Rally Bulgaria 2010: Starts & Finishes in Borovets!

Rally Bulgaria is a prestigious car racing event with a 39 year history. From 1970 to 2001 the Rally had a HQ in the famous Black sea resorts of Zlantni Piasatzi and Albena. Since 2002 the competition has made its headquarters in the central part of south Bulgaria with a start and finish in Borovets!
A long history of Rally Racing in Bulgaria . . .
Rally driving has had a long history in Bulgaria. It was at its best when state-owned companies funded their own teams and organized races between the top drivers in the eastern bloc and Soviet Union. The sport went through a difficult period after the collapse of the Berlin Wall, but is gaining traction again with help from Bulgaria's improving economy and optimism about its membership in the European Union.

Rally Bulgaria has an itinerary, totaling more than 736,86 km with 13 SS (282,61 km) all in asphalt.
Its route is very compact and selective and it passes through beautiful Bulgarian scenery. The first special stage runs along the streets of Borovets, which poses a real challenge for both cars and drivers.
One leg of the race actually runs past the Villa Stresov. Spectators can watch the rally from in front of the Villa.
More than 250 thousand spectators watched the Bulgarian crew of Krum Dontchev and Stoyko Valtchev win with a Peugeot 207 S2000..
